Hasbro Announces "HasCon", Its Own Hasbro-Themed Convention
Toy manufacturer Hasbro has announced that they will launch their own convention focused on their toy lines. The convention, named "HasCon", will take place in Providence, Rhode Island in September 2017, not far from Hasbro's corporate headquarters.

Anime Southwest changes venues and loses most of their guests
Anime Southwest, located near Denver, Colorado, has announced the cancellations of seven guests. This news comes one week after it was announced the convention has announced a new venue and less than a month before the convention is scheduled to begin.

After cancelling ten conventions in the last two months, YourMiniCon has now cancelled their event in Portland, Maine, the only remaining event other than their original Connecticut location.

Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation to expand beyond anime and rebrand
The SPJA, the parent organization of Anime Expo, plans to "move beyond otaku/fan culture" and will be integrating "film, gaming, tech, music and other forms of entertainment media." SPJA will open a Tokyo office in 2016 and reveal a new name and logo.

Wizard World Gaming cancelled in Atlanta, integrated with Portland show
Wizard World has announced that its first Wizard World Gaming convention, which had been planned to be held in Atlanta, Georgia from January 22 through 24, has been moved to Portland, Oregon and will be part of their Wizard World Comic Con Portland event.
