News for MomoCon 2009:

MomoCon announces new guests and charity event

Atlanta, GA - February 17th, 2009 - Anime O-Tekku and MomoCon are proud to announce a host of new guests, including MomoCon's first band performance, Extraordinary Contraptions, a new string of charity events, and parent-focused seminars on college information. The family-friendly convention is free admission, held March 14-15, 2009 at Georgia Tech campus in Atlanta, Georgia.

MomoCon is proud to welcome our first full band performance, provided by Extraordinary Contraptions, the steampunk-themed band who blend motown-funk bass grooves with a driving guitar, chaotic drums, engagingly playful keys, and three part vocal harmonies to create their unstuck-in-space-time, steam-powered sound! This will be EC's first convention appearance. They will be playing two shows at MomoCon and be present to sign albums at their table. Other newly-added guests include Gina Biggs, author of Red String, published by Dark Horse, Steven Cummings, artist of Pantheon High, published by Tokyopop, the Outlanders Steampunk group, Tripwire Interactive, creators of the PC game Red Orchestra, Hi-Rez Studios, creators of the action-MMO Global Agenda, and Seraphina, who will bring her Otaku Fusion Bellydance to MomoCon for the first time! MomoCon also welcomes costumer guests Reanna Remick, Imriela, and Aleathia Burns. Information about all guests is available on momocon.com. MomoCon is also glad to feature presentations from several Georgia Tech student groups and organizations.

Kicking off a string of charity events and products, MomoCon proudly goes Pink! Starting at the 2009 convention, when you see MomoCon Goes Pink items at our MomoCon dealers table, promotional tables at other conventions, or when you see peripheral events with pink themes, know that MomoCon is donating half of the profits from these items/events to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, an organization that works with people around the globe to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures.

Are you a parent bringing your kids to MomoCon (or an anime fan yourself)? This year the convention is providing seminars and informational sessions on college admissions, savings, and general information, presented by the Georgia Institute of Technology College of Computing. If you are in high school and looking forward to college, bring your parents and friends to learn about college and where to go to prepare.
