News for Anime Matsuri 2009:

Anime Matsuri 2009 announces performance by Miyavi

Jrock fans are taking over Texas

Houston, TX. January 21, 2009. - Following the announcement of a Jrock-themed concert for the 2009 convention and continuing the tradition of bringing fantastic Japanese musical acts to USA, Anime Matsuri announces Miyavi live in concert at Anime Matsuri 2009. This marks Miyavi's first concert in Texas and the artist's management, PS Company, is putting together a special performance exclusively for the fans. PS Company has also made available a booth in the dealer's room which will carry Miyavi merchandise at a discounted price and limited merchandise from select artists such as Alice Nine, The GazettE, Kra, Kagrra and many more.

Miyavi is a Japanese artist who is recognized as one of the top guitarist in Japan. At the age of 17, the sudden death of a respected friend prompted his journey Tokyo without a dime in his pocket. Before long, he joined the former band named "Due'le quartz". After the band broke up in 2002, he started his career as a solo artist. Success and adoration followed Miyavi during his solo career, and he returned the favor to all of his fans or 仔雅 "co-miyavi" as he referred to them at his last indie show at the Nippon Budokan.

In 2005, Miyavi made his major debut at a 'fan club event' held in the Tokyo Dome and shortly thereafter, signed with Universal Music Records. At, what seemed to be, the height of his stardom he walked away from everything for six months in an effort to better improve himself.

By 2007 Miyavi was back in fine form, joining the band "S.K.I.N" with Yoshiki from X Japan, Gackt, and Sugizo from Luna Sea. They brought their talents to the Long Beach Arena in L.A. and rocked the house.

2008 marked the beginning of Miyavi's first world tour, which included 33 shows in 14 different countries spanning North America, South America, Europe and Asia. This earned him the title of the first ever Japanese rock artist to have successful showings in South America.

For 2009, the ever changing Miyavi has packed all of considerable talents and sets his eyes on Anime Matsuri and the entire the lone star state.
