News for MomoCon 2009:

MomoCon announces skating event and winter ball

November 13th, 2008 - Atlanta, Georgia - MomoCon, annual free-admission anime/gaming/comics convention is proud to announce two new peripheral events, aimed at bolstering the fan community through entertainment!

The crew of MomoCon is happy to present our annual Cosplayers on Ice photo shoot, Saturday December 13th from 1pm to 4pm. Centennial Olympic Park skating rink will be invaded by cosplayers and revelers all afternoon, and our convention photographer will be there to capture all the graceful moves (and some choice hilarious slip-ups)!

While the photo shoot itself is free of charge to attend, those wishing to ice skate at the rink can purchase tickets on-site for $7 with an extra $2 to rent skates. Skating is optional; several locales in the park will be utilized for photo shoots with non-skating costumers. MomoCon will also provide door prizes for attendees and light snacks. Cosplayers are asked to leave all weapon-props at home for this public event.

MomoCon would also like to welcome all to our grand Winter Ball Saturday, January 17th, 2009, to be held at the newly-renovated Ballroom at the Georgia Tech Student Center from 7pm to 11pm! This semi-formal event is a chance to don your finery and dance the night away with fellow fans and friends. Directions to the venue are available at www.momocon.com; the Ballroom was the location of the Dealer's Room at MomoCons 2006-2008.

The Winter Ball will feature wintery decorations, DJs playing your favorite danceable anime/video game tunes as well as great classic pop, rock, big band, lounge, and jazz music. We have a special website set-up to take any song suggestions you might have. There will also be an on-site photographer, and light hors d'oeuvres will be available free of charge.

Because the event is classified as 'Semi-formal', we request that all attendees observe common etiquette rules regarding semi-formal attire. Tuxedos and long dresses are not required, but are not restricted either. No jeans, t-shirts, sneakers, etc. will be allowed. Costumes are welcome, so long as they conform to standard semi-formal attire requirements. Kimonos are welcome as well.

Admission to the event will be $8 for preregistration and $10 at the door. Tickets can be preordered through the website at a later date.
