News for Armageddicon 2007:

The Protomen, Spoony Bards to rock Anime Punch

Columbus, Ohio Dec 24, 2006 – Anime Punch: Armageddicon II is proud to announce their musical guests for this year's convention. The Protomen, composers of the genre-spanning, powerhouse of a rock opera based on the story of Megaman will be performing their epic and inspired creation. The Spoony Bards, a popular mainstay of Midwestern conventions, will be returning to play their acoustic renditions of anime and video game music in the central atrium of the hotel.

Hailing from Tennessee, The Protomen formed in 2004 and wrote what is possibly the most amazing and intense concept album to be released since The Who's Tommy. Building on the characters of Megaman, his brother Protoman, and their creator Dr. Light, The Protomen in their self-titled rock opera craft a powerful and riveting ballad that is far too heavy to have been based on an 8 bit side-scroller. A lone hero, his fall into darkness, the brother who swore to avenge him, and the fight to save a people who are too afraid to stand up for themselves and fight. This is the epic framework surrounding their music which will be performed amidst a fantastic light show at The Armageddicon. "And with one power shot, you'll see what vengeance means."

Formed spontaneously at Anime Central 2004, The Spoony Bards have delighted audiences at conventions for the last 3 years, and will return to their second Anime Punch to continue doing what they do best: filling hotel lobbies with beautiful music. Playing some of the most beloved songs from Final Fantasy, classic Nintendo, Gitaroo Man, Studio Ghibli, many other anime and video games, and even Queen, the "Bards" are expected to continue demonstrating their extraordinary talent and inexhaustible creativity to the enjoyment of all at Anime Punch.
