Biography:
I'm Belén Ortega, comic book artist and illustrator. I have a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Granada, expanding my studies at the Human Academy School in Osaka (Japan). My first professional work got the award for the best Spanish Manga for Ficomic (Himawari, Glènat 2011) and in 2010 as best Illustrator for Expomanga (now called Héroes Manga) from Madrid. Until the end of 2010 I did Illustration work for a multitude of supports, like the collective didactic book Kodomo Manga Paso a Paso (Monsa Ediciones), advertising designs for the brand of shoes Carolina BOIX or illustrations for several discs related with manga and anime. In 2015 I publish "Pájaro Indiano", with Norma Editorial, my first work in BD format in full color, along with the ARTBOOK edited by Ominiky Ediciones, collecting all my works until now. In 2016 I work again with Norma Editorial in the biography of the three-times motorcycle world champion "Marc Márquez, the Story of a Dream". I was also in charge of redesigning the champion's official mascot for his brand MM93. In 2017 I work with Planeta comic in the reissue of my first manga "Himawari", with new format and extras, and the alternative cover for the first issue of "The Blade of the Immortal" Kanzeban edition in direct collaboration with Kodansha. Between 2016 and 2018 I finish the book trilogy "Millenium Saga" with the French-Belgian Dupuis Editorial, based in the best-seller from Stieg Larsson, a new independent trilogy from the screenwriter Sylvain Runberg, now published internationally. Meanwhile, I alternate my work as illustrator for FNAC or Pull&Bear, video game companies, etc. In 2018 I collaborate with the creation of the character "Elia", a short comic for the Spanish jewelry company Suárez ("Elia, el jardín entre días") for its new line of Jewelry, along with the well-known fashion design brand Jesús del Pozo and Filip Custic. In 2019 my first collaborations are with USA working with the Heavy Metal Magazine and drawing a Spin-off based in the Osamu Tezuka's work, with a script by Victor Santos, that will be published in Japan for the magazine TEZUCOMI.
