Ryan McMurry Information

Ryan McMurry

Artist / Cosplayer
Lake Montezuma, AZ, USA

Biography:
Ryan McMurry is an artist, comic book creator and cosplayer. He has created art and shirt designs for such bands as Tub Ring and Mindless Self Indulgence as well as contributing art for such charity as for the "Beer for Brains" Brain Cancer Foundation. He frequently listens to loud music and watches movies while working on any form of art.
Ryan has been drawing all his life, having started off as a child influenced by his favorite cartoons and movies. In the '90s his art style became influenced by Dragonball, Armitage III, Dominion Tank Police, and Akira. Now in 2013, Ryan has since learned to branch out and draw more than just Japanese styles and influences.

Ryan has been attending conventions and cosplaying since 2005 in Arizona and California and is perhaps best known for his cosplay of Spike Spiegel from the classic anime Cowboy Bebop. In 2010, Ryan appeared as Spike in the hardbound book "Cosplay in America" along with cosplayer Illiara as Faye Valentine. The duo's images were used in the book as well as for various promotional uses of the book, gallery pieces and posters. He is known by either his cosplay or convention badge names Toshi or Tenucha.

In 2012, Ryan created the comic book "Zombie B.C." and self published it for debut at Saboten Con with contributing cover art from model Aurora O'Brien and legendary artist Steve Rude "The Dude". However during production of Zombie B.C. and after, much of his time and energy since has been directed on family and moving.
Ryan recently moved from Phoenix to Lake Montezuma. Despite needing to focus on moving, his job, and the delay in a follow-up, Ryan is still working on the next issue of Zombie B.C. and looking to begin work on a couple other stories and projects to create solo and collaborate with.
