News for Anime Weekend Atlanta 2008:

Anime Weekend Atlanta announces final guest and event list

ATLANTA, GA- August 28, 2008- Anime Weekend Atlanta is pleased to announce its final slate of guests. Voice actor Illich Guardiola (Vexille, Appleseed Ex Machina) will be making his first appearance at AWA alongside fellow actors Peter Fernandez and Corinne Orr (Speed Racer, Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers), Vic Mignogna (Ouran High School Host Club), Amy Howard-Wilson (Star Blazers) Travis Willingham (Full Metal Alchemist), Monica Rial (Burst Angel) and Rikki Simons (Invader Zim).

AWA will have musical performances by J-pop bands Tsu Shi Na Mi Re, The Captains, and The Emeralds. There will also be a special event hosted by Peelander-Z.

Artists of the digital and printed comic industries will be on hand, including Jennie Breeden (The Devil’s Panties), Camilla d’Errico (Burn), Fred Perry (Gold Digger), Robert and Emily DeJesus (Studio Capsule), and Tavisha Wolfgarth-Simons (ShutterBox).

Anime Weekend Atlanta will present various panels about the U.S. side of the anime industry from experts such as Patrick Macias (Otaku USA editor in chief), Carl Gustav Horn (Dark Horse Comics manga editor), Jonathan Tarbox (Arashi Productions), Toshifumi Yoshida (Bandai Entertainment producer) and David Williams (ADV Films producer). Funimation Entertainment will also be present to screen upcoming releases such as “Ouran Host High School Club” and “Claymore”. Other panels scheduled includes “So you want to learn Japanese”, “Writing for Anime” and “Running Anime Conventions”. Cosplay panelists Yaya Han, Limebarb, Ashley Clark & PikaBelleChu will also appear.

Main events at AWA are the Costume Contest, The AWA Black & White Ball, Anime Music Videos, Video Gaming, Art Show and Auction, Dealers Room, Artists Alley, The BeBop Lounge, Anime Hell, Karaoke Saturday Night, and more.

New events added to AWA this year includes the AWA Maid Café, and SuperHappyFunSell, the AWA Thursday evening swap meet.

AWA will be held September 19-21, 2008 at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel and the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Georgia.
