News for Otakuthon 2007:

Otakuthon 2007 announces Venus Terzo as guest of honor

MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA (June 11, 2007) - Otakuthon, Montreal's fan-run anime convention that will take place on August 4th & 5th, 2007, is pleased to announce that voice actress Venus Terzo will be our Guest of Honor.

Well known to anime fans as the voice of the female Ranma Saotome in the popular Ranma 1/2 anime series, the Montreal born actress has voiced numerous anime and cartoon characters that include Millerna Aston in Vision of Escaflowne, Celine Jules in Star Ocean EX, Jean Grey in X-Men: Evolutions, and Black Arachnia in Transformers: Beast Wars. Venus is currently the voice of the ZAFT Captain Talia Gladys in the mega-hit anime series Gundam SEED DESTINY.

Venus Terzo is the latest addition to our great list of special guests that include webcomic artists Scott Ramsoomair - VG Cats, Sébastien "Sirkowski" Fréchette - Miss Dynamite and Mark Sprague - Dragon Mango, animator Les Major and voice actress Mandy St.Jean of Darkain Arts Studio, AMV creator Tim Park of Doki Doki Productions, cosplay group Boxed Rice Productions, J-pop singer Irulanne, J-rock band Sukoshi Yoshi, taiko drum team Arashi Daiko, Anime News Network's Christopher Macdonald, Editor-in-Chief Claude J. Pelletier of Protoculture Addicts magazine, RPG and Video game writer Lucien Soulban, and award winning cosplayer Dawn "Kaijugal" McKechnie.

In addition to our special guests, Otakuthon 2007 will host many new events like the AMV Contest & Oscar Award Show, Otakuthon Idol Competition, Flea Market, Cosplay Café and a LARP (Live Action Role Playing) game based on Hack/Sign. Returning events include the popular Masquerade, J-pop concert featuring Irulanne and Friends, Saturday Night Dance, Artists' Area and an expanded Dealers' Area.

Online pre-registration and tickets for both the masquerade and J-pop concert is now available on the Otakuthon website - www.otakuthon.com. Deadline for pre-registration is June 30, 2007.
